New Release: Atlassian GreenHopper New Feature, Rapid Boards

Rapid Boards are a new GreenHopper Labs Feature available to trial from release 5.6.2.

The Rapid Board (when enabled) takes up position alongside the other well known GreenHopper boards (Planning, Task, Chart, Release) and gives you a number of new ways to interact with your issues. The intention is that this will become the ‘New GreenHopper’ replacing the existing boards, and as such is very exciting development.

The underlying basis of the Rapid Board is the Rapid View which presents information based on Filters. A key feature here is that the filter can pull in Issues from multiple projects and you can have multiple rapid views all focussed on different projects.

This enables you to work across multiple projects form a single GreenHopper board, very useful if work across multiple agile projects at the same time.

In line with GreenHopper’s focus on usability, the rapid boards allow you to view and manipulate issues directly from the Rapid Board and to transition through the workflow by intelligent drag and drop. This uses highlighting to show valid transitions and where there are multiple statuses for a transition these are clearly displayed on the rapid board.

It also introduces Swim-lanes and interactive charts amongst other features. If you want to know more about Rapid Boards then can see the Atlassian documentation here: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/GH/Using+the+Rapid+Board.
