Trac Subversion Integration (TRAC2SVN)

£500.00

Trac2SVN provides bi-directional integration between the open source tools Trac (change management) and Subversion (version control), removing the complexity of existing cumbersome manual process.

Trac2SVN enables users to record modified Subversion files and comments within a Trac issue record quickly and easily, minimising opportunities for human error.

The integration between Trac and Subversion is bi-directional so allowing users to also record Trac record information against the Subversion revision history.

Trac2SVN extends functionality, provide a clear audit trail and secures end-user compliance in several key areas.

Key Features
  • Increases productivity:
    • The automated process virtually eliminates the potential for human error
    • Information is more readily available and easier to access
    • Developers are more willing and likely to record information;
  • Bi-Directional: Trac change records are automatically recorded in Subversion just as Subversion change sets are recorded in the Trac record;
  • Reporting: Information is written in both a human and programmatically readable format for improved reporting;
  • Fully compatible with the existing SVN diff Plug-in
  • Easy to install, running in minutes

Step 1
The Developer, working against their local work space, performs a commit to subversion repository.

Step 2
A Subversion ‘Pre-Commit’ hook traps the commit and calls the Trac2SVN server process

Step 3
The Trac2SVN server process at this stage knows who is performing the commit and from which client the request has came from. Trac2SVN queries the Trac database;

  • Find all the record which below to this user
  • discard any records which do not match specific record ‘states’ (the states are fully customisable)

Step 4
Return the narrow list of records back to client machine where the commit was initiated. The developer now selects the suitable record(s) from the GUI.

Step 5
Trac2SVN Client communicates with the Trac2SVN server with the selected records. Trac is updated with the set of files and directories changed in Subversion (change set), Subversion records the Trac ticket id’s as selected by the developer.
