RAM2SVN Administration Guide

Introduction

This is the Administration Guide for RAM2SVN: integrating Subversion into RAM. Together with this document you should find a User Guide. The latest versions of these documents are always available on the Clearvision website.

RAM2SVN is delivered as a zipped update site. You can either distribute the zip file to each client or make the files available on your network so that anyone can install it.

Platform Requirements

RAM2SVN has been tested against the following versions (alternative versions may work, but are unsupported).

Prerequisites

You will need a license for your installation of RAM2SVN. This will be time-limited and configured for a maximum number of client installations.

To request a license, please send the following information to sales@clearvision-cm.com :

Installation

  1. Unzip all the files from the downloaded .zip. We recommend extracting the files to C:\Program Files\ (This location will be used throughout this guide).
  2. Open Eclipse
  3. Go to Help->Software updates...

  4. On the Software Updates screen, click Add Site

  5. A window will pop up. Click on Local

  6. Browse to the location where the zip file was unpacked, click on the RAM2SVN folder and then click OK and then OK again

  7. Click on the RAM2SVN Tick Box (as shown below) and click on Install...

  8. On the Install window which appears, check that RAM2SVN is listed and click Next

  9. After reading the License Agreement, click on I accept the terms of the license agreement and click on Finish

  10. A new Window will appear. This is confirmation of the RAM2SVN Plugin being installed. There is no user interaction needed at this point.

  11. After the installation has finished, a prompt to restart Eclipse will appear. Click on Yes

  12. The next stage is to verify that the RAM2SVN plugin has been installed successfully. To do this, go to Help->Software Updates... and make sure that the 'Installed Software' tab is currently selected. RAM2SVN should appear in the list.

  13. Browse to the directory where the RAM2SVN plugin was unzipped and copy the folder com.clearvision_cm.ram2svn (with the ram2svn.properties file inside ) to the plugin directory for Eclipse. For Eclipse the default directory will be something like:

    •     C:\Program Files\eclipse\plugins\

  1. Enter the necessary license key information into the RAM2SVN.properties file to validate the license.

  2. Restart Eclipse for the final time
  3. The RAM2SVN Plugin is now installed and ready to use.
