Overview
If you are a Windows Subversion (SVN) user, you will at some point start using SVN post-commit hooks. When initiated on a Windows client post-commit hooks cause the SVN interface (command line, Tortoise, Eclipse, etc) to wait for the hook to complete before they return control to the user.
Whilst that may not sound like a significant issue, post commit hooks which fire on regular events and call a script or program that takes time to run and complete will cause the developer interface to freeze. Many developers find this frustrating and it results in unnecessary loss of productive time.
