The end of new sales for Atlassian Server licensing

What this means is that customers can no longer purchase or request a quote for a new Server product, but they can still purchase Server plugin licensing. This will remain the case until 2nd February 2022.

We covered the steps for users following the End-of-Life of Server announcement in a previous blog post. One of the key considerations mentioned was Data Center.

How Atlassian is strengthening Data Center

Atlassian is strengthening Data Center by making some of its most powerful applications available as native features and offering Priority Support with Data Center subscriptions for most user tiers. Note, upon renewals, users who own one of the below apps or services will not be required to pay.

As of 2nd February 2021:

  • Jira Software Data Center will include Advanced Roadmaps (formerly Portfolio for Jira).
  • Confluence Data Center will include team Calendars for Confluence, Analytics for Confluence.
  • Jira Service Management Data Center: Insight – Asset Management, Insight Discovery.
  • Priority Support will be included with a Data Center subscription to Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and Crowd. It will also be included with a Bitbucket Data Center subscription for customers with 251+ users.
  • Bamboo Data Center: Atlassian plans on making Bamboo Data Center available in the near future. As details emerge, existing Bamboo Server customers will be notified.
  • Crowd Data Center will include Priority Support.

*Insight - Asset Management and Insight - Discovery will be included natively with Jira Service Management Data Center (formerly Jira Service Desk Data Center) at a later date. Note: Both apps are now being offered at no cost.

Data Center is a pivotal step in the long-term path to the Cloud for Atlassian users who cannot move because they require a multi-year transition or because of company mandate. As such, integrations between the two are being simplified.

Atlassian is including several of its most powerful apps, plus new functionality with Data Center subscriptions

Those who already use these tools no longer need to renew subscriptions. However, users will need to use the methods outlined below to unlock functionality before existing app licensing expires.

To unlock functionality, upgrade to a Data Center product version with the app included or install a compatible version of the app for free. The apps will not require licensing, and functionality will unlock when the app starts on a compatible Data Center subscription.

The method available varies by application:

Advanced Roadmaps (formerly Portfolio for Jira); Will be included in Jira Software Data Center version 8.15.

You can also install a compatible version of the app at no cost.
Team Calendars for Confluence; Will be included in Confluence Data Center version 7.11.
You can also install a compatible version of the app at no charge.
Analytics for Confluence You will need to upgrade to Confluence Data Center version 7.11.
This will not be available to install as an application.
Insight - Asset Management This will be included in Jira Service Management Data Center version 4.15.
You can also install a compatible version of the app without having to pay.
Insight Discovery You can install a compatible version of the app at no cost.
