Moving away from IE11? Let us help

On 23rd September 2019, Atlassian announced that support for IE11 will be coming to an end.

After Microsoft released Edge in 2015, Internet Explorer (IE) stopped receiving major updates or added support for many modern web standards.

Recently, Microsoft discouraged the use of Internet Explorer as a default browser, and IE11 usage across cloud, server, and data center products decreased over time.

What does this mean?

End of support means Atlassian will no longer fix bugs  specific to IE11, and will begin introducing features that aren’t compatible with this browser.

After that, Atlassian expect there will be a temporary grace period where most features would still work in IE11. However, this window will be temporary and customers should work towards migrating to a modern browser for the best product experience.

  • For all Atlassian Cloud products, support will end on 31 March 2020.
  • For Atlassian Server and Data Center products, the last version to support IE11 will be released between September 2019 and March 2020. Subsequent versions will not support IE11.
  • Atlassian Cloud, Server, and Data Center apps i.e. Portfolio for Jira, Questions for Confluence,  and Team Calendars for Confluence, will continue to support IE11 until 31 March 2020 (cloud apps), or until the last version of Jira or Confluence that support IE11 has reached end of life (server and data center apps).

In preparation for the end of support dates, Atlassian recommend that you switch to one of their supported browsers, such as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox. Please refer to the Atlassian Documentation website for further information on supported platforms for the specific products and versions you’re using.
